Dan Pederson is an activist and wanted to help more Calgarians apply online. Dan would also like to add the low-income transit pass and Fair Entry program are critically important for Calgarians, as an affordable transit pass is a lifeline for many people to secure employment, see the doctor and address basic needs.

Dan has some tips to share about how to apply. Dan video logged a two-part story on how to apply for the low-income monthly transit pass online. We are happy to say, Dan is now a monthly low-income transit user.

Watch how Dan applied online and what Dan learned to make it easier for you!

TIP 1: Using a cell phone to apply

Did you know If you are already a Calgary Transit Access Customer, it only takes 2 minutes?

In the end, Dan ended up using a cell phone, which auto-remembers the Calgary ID and Calgary Transit Access Customer ID. It was much easier than using the Fair Entry application route on the City website and only took two minutes! Why? Dan's cell phone auto-remembers contact information. Since Dan already used a cell phone to make Calgary Transit Access appointments, it only took 2 minutes. Learn more about how you can apply using the Calgary Transit Access booking website (at about 5 minutes in) on Dan's youtube channel.

Yahoo! Dan approved!

Once Dan sent in the valid required proof of income it only took about 10 days.

TIP 2: Use the most current proof of monthly income ID

Dan's application was also filed incomplete as the photo of the health benefits cards, it needs to say the current date on the card.

TIP 3: Check your spam folder

If doing online, check your spam folder if you don't hear in 10 days about the status of your application.

Hat's off to the City of Calgary, The Province of Alberta, the Calgary Transit office, and to Debbie at the Fair Entry office for the quick response in helping Dan! Dan has some great ideas on how to improve the accessibility of the forms for font size, scrolling, and how to avoid missing questions on the form. Great work Dan, thank you for sharing your experience, and happy riding!
